Born and raised in the bustling Megalopolis of Central Mexico, Lorena E. Olarte is a Viennese-Mexican political scientist, researcher and communicator who has dedicated more than seventeen years to working in non-profit and international organizations. Her academic foundation was solidly built at two prestigious universities: UNAM’s Faculty of Political Sciences 1, the top Spanish-speaking university in the world, and Sciences Po Paris 2, Europe’s leading institution specializing in politics. This educational background significantly strengthened her commitment to tackling global challenges through research, particularly focusing on the intersections of social justice, environmental sustainability, contentious politics, global health and mobilities, as she finishes her PhD in these areas.
Experience
Lorena’s experience in managing and collaborating with diverse international teams across areas such as project management, strategic communications, and fundraising positions her uniquely to provide valuable and innovative insights in both organizational and academic settings. She aims to use her extensive practical experience and broad international perspective to delve into political transitions and socio-ecological issues, striving to develop more effective and equitable policies globally. While Lorena seamlessly communicates in both English and Spanish, she is also fluent in German and French. Additionally, she has a working knowledge of Italian and Portuguese and has explored the fundamentals of Nahuatl, Mandarin and Basque.
